A lovely sunny day brought the cyclists and walkers to Cilcain’s first Womens’ Institute Community Cafe……
A stunning array of cakes and the WI’s distinctive green tablecloths set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable cafe – visitors enjoyed a lovely choice of gentle background music to conversation, a look at the bookstall and a leaf through the WI’s commemorative photograph albums.
Each table carried a single lovely yellow rose and a copy of the WI compiled Village History.
The day saw £176.50 raised for Mark Prior-Egerton’s bike ride in support of “Help the Hospices”, raising his total so far to over £500: thanks to all who shared the afternoon with us, and in enjoying the cafe helped a very good cause.
We hope the WI will run another cafe in the early Autumn.
Next week: The Village Craft Group. There will be demonstrations of craft work, including spinning and silk painting. Plants and cards will be on sale.
