Now we have all recovered, thanks to all who made last Saturday such a spectacular success! We have met many old friends, and made many new ones.
To see the Hall packed: plants everywhere, cakes in high demand, music playing, books selling, and people meeting – a great start.
Bob Eckersall, on behalf of Muddy boots, asked me to tell you that a substantial contribution of £150 has been made, by your generosity, to Ethiopia Reads
Their letter of thanks says, among other things,
Your support has helped Ethiopia Reads accomplish the following:
- We have established almost 50 libraries throughout Ethiopia.
- We’ve published two bilingual, fully illustrated books for children, Silly Mammo and Trouble.
- We provided librarian training for staff, teachers and librarians in Addis Ababa, Awassa and Mekele.
- Over 125,000 eager readers have been served by our libraries.
The Cafe made over £100 which will be applied to its continuation, and to the Hall as a Community resource. Thank you!
