An update from Gwen Hardman and Sue Jones about the improvement works at Cilcain Village Hall, which were started last Monday 1st February:
Phew, what a busy week!
The 2 lofts have been insulated – great work by very helpful Wall-Lag staff who also cleared the lofts for us. A heat pump has been fitted in the storeroom, with electrical work soon to be completed to make the pump operational; this means that all areas of the Hall now have heating.
And finally, the last window went in on Friday 5th February! The two lads from Custom Precision Joinery who have been doing the work have been fantastic. They’ve worked really hard this week and now look shattered! However, the windows look fabulous and they’ve really given the building a much-needed facelift.
Our grateful thanks go to all the lads from Wall-Lag, Custom Precision Joinery, Aspect Temperature Control and Cilcain’s very own Nick Proffitt for all their hard work in helping us to update our lovely old building to provide a comfortable environment for village and visitor use alike. It also cuts our emissions – Cilcain is doing its bit for the environment!
All of this work has been made possible with funding from The Welsh Government via the Aggregate Levy Fund, our main funding body, together with Derbyshire Environmental Trust through their Lafarge-Tarmac Communities Funds as the partner funding body. As well as this, both Cilcain Community Council and the Village Hall Management Committee have given donations to make this project possible.
