Surprise, surprise!

David and balloonsOn Saturday 27th June a surprise party was held in honour of David Johnson as a thank you for his vision, enterprise and hard work in the refurbishment of the Village Hall, which is now a bright, modern and welcoming building which everybody in the village is rightly proud of.
This was a fantastic community event, with people contributing cakes and other tasty treats for the café, as well as food (from salads to sausages!) for the barbecue held later in the yard outside the hall – luckily, it was a warm and sunny day!
The Hall was decorated with bunting, streamers and a huge banner made by Phil May, and as he came in, David was showered by loads of balloons which had been cleverly held in place by netting!
Glasses of bubbly were handed out to raise a toast, and Sandra Eaton-Richards did the honours with words of thanks as well as reading out a lovely poem written for David by Jenny Gibbs.
All in all, a wonderful afternoon was had by everyone.
Many thanks to the organisers who worked so hard to organise this lovely ‘do’, namely Judith, Sandra and Phil, and to everybody who helped and contributed, but above all – THANK YOU DAVID!
