Raising Funds for Wildlife Conservation…

Hannah Amesbury is raising funds for an Operation Wallacea marine biology expedition to Cuba in 2014. I hope you can join us to find out more about OpWal, pick up a few stocking fillers and enjoy some homemade cake.
What is Operation Wallacea?
Operation Wallacea is an organisation that runs a series of biological and conservation research programmes in remote locations across the world. These expeditions are designed with specific wildlife conservation aims in mind – from identifying areas needing protection, through to implementing and assessing conservation management programmes.
The Cuba expedition is run on the reefs of the Punta Frances National Park in the southern Island of Youth. The first week is spent learning to dive and learning how to identify the reef fish and coral communities. The second week is then spent collecting data from the coral reefs including fish surveys; data on the sea-grass bed; helping with manatee monitoring and the shark tagging programme. The main research objective is to identify significant changes in data from previous years
