Come and talk about the future of the Hall at Saturday’s Cafe

There’s a hole in our floor, dear Liza….

Visitors to the Hall cannot fail to notice the outbreak of MDF sheets by the Hall entrance. Over the past few months it has become clear that penetrating damp has damaged the floor by the entrance to the Hall – and given that your Hall Committee has been worried about heating costs for some time, and that the Hall is due for a major refurbishment – matters have come to a head!

Improving a busy, if slightly chilly and gloomy venue…..

The considerable increase in use – partly the result of the Community Cafe – has seen Muddy Boots use the Hall as their home, Mart Roger choose us as a touring venue, Zumba come and go, Kettlercise really take off, and new Drama and Yoga groups established. But the rather dark and gloomy atmosphere (the lighting really does need attention, and the overwhelming brown-ness of the decor has had its time) and the spiralling heating costs (over £10 per day in Winter) have caused much debate. We are also being offered touring theatre and other events which we would like to be able to host for the Village’s benefit.

Come and join the debate

We have investigated, and embraced, the idea of insulating and redesigning your Hall to provide a warm and welcoming village focus, and we would like to share our ideas, enlist your help and find out what you think.

Beyond the immediate goal – gaining grant aid for our improvement agenda – is a further ambition – to spread ideas about energy conservation  to help to warm and brighten the future for everyone in the Village.

Come and talk to us on Saturday!
