\n\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to play Richard Burton\u201d said Rhodri Miles, who is 42 years old and was born in Pontarddulais, just six miles away from Burton\u2019s birthplace.<\/em> <\/b>
\n\u201cHe was a great thespian actor, an alcoholic womaniser who often said that his natural disposition to the Celtic gloom was caused by the mist in the hills and the black in the coal, all of it seeping into his very being. When you think of Welsh iconic figures, he\u2019s one of them\u201d<\/b>
\n\u00a0<\/b> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Since leaving the Metropolitan Police, Rhodri trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has been a professional actor for twenty years. His recent credits include The Welsh captain in Richard II, Holby City, Torchwood and he is in the current \u00a0BBC series Atlantis. \u00a0Rhodri is at presently filming series 4 of the American HBO smash hit on sky \u2018Game of Thrones\u2019. On stage he recently played Lodovico in Othello at the Sheffield Crucible directed by Daniel Evans, opposite Dominic West\u2019s Iago. \u00a0He played Dylan Thomas to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh fringe in 2007 in Gwynne Edwards\u2019 play \u201cDylan Thomas in London \u201d and is about to play Thomas again at next year\u2019s Dylan 100 festival in Gwynne Edward\u2019 new one-man play \u2018Dylan Thomas \u2013 The Clown in the Moon\u2019<\/b>
\n\u00a0<\/b> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Edwards is also the author of \u2018Burton\u2019, which vividly depicts the actor\u2019s often hilarious, melancholic, self-deprecating take on life from humble beginnings to Hollywood mega-stardom, culminating in his acrimonious first divorce to Elizabeth Taylor, which happened not long after they both appeared together in the movie version of Dylan Thomas\u2019 \u2018Under Milk Wood\u2019.<\/b>
\n\u201cIn fact our play starts in the same manner as Under Milk Wood\u201d, using the words from Dylan Thomas\u2019 famous play for voices with \u2018Burton\u2019 stating the famous line – \u201cTo begin at the beginning\u2026.\u201d<\/i> which according to Rhodri is a very good place to start.<\/b>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018Burton\u2019 received 4\/5 star review at the Edinburgh festival in 2009 and at the 2010 Hollywood Fringe Festival June.<\/b>
