Well, work has been carrying on apace at the Village Hall…the air source heating system has been installed by Pete and Andy of Aspect Temperature Control, so we are now ready to face the worst the winter can throw at us! We have also received a very kind donation of £100 from the Gwyl, Cilcain towards this new heating system.
Jon has been busy ‘making good’ and plastering where the heating units have been installed and has also been putting up picture rails and making new notice boards for the Hall. These have been designed to hang from the picture rails or stand independently on custom made stands when required for free-standing displays, etc.
The curtain rails are now up and we can go ahead and order the new curtains. Judith is organising this – yet another box ticked!
The floor has been sanded, but the outcome is very disappointing. Sue Jones has approached the firm who did such a great job on the floor in the School Room at Capel Gad, and they are going to come out next Wednesday, 28th August to take a look.
Sue is also going to get a quote from Snowdonia Windows for replacing various failed double glazed units in the existing windows. Also, the extractor fans in the big windows at either end of the Hall need to be removed, and replacement panes installed.
The village has been a hive of activity today, with final preparations under way for tomorrow’s Show. This year the Hall will house displays of children’s art, together with a white elephant stall, a photographic display (there will be more in the Church), as well as a book stall, so there will be plenty to see, and bargains galore to be had!
The next meeting of the Village Hall Committee will be held on Thursday 26th September.
More posts will follow in the next couple of days with news of forthcoming events.
A note to David and Glenys:
Needless to say, you have been sorely missed and are very much in our thoughts – we are sending lots of love and best wishes to you both, and hope to see you soon.
